I haven't written for over five years, but I am back. I feel the need to put down my thoughts after this incredible year of Donald Trump. I am having a real hard time understanding how 10.9 million voters pulled the lever for a rich business man, a liar, and a misogynist. They liked his ability to act decisively similar to Kim Jong Un. They say he is not politically correct similar to Dennis Rodman or Howard Stern (two others who should not be President of anything). They say that he will "shake up Washington" which did not work for Marion Berry or Newt Gingrich.
It is unbelievable, shocking and frightening how far this clown has gone. It is amazing that right wing conservatives like Erick Erickson, David Brooks and George Will (who brought this menace on our society) are on the same page with EJ Dionne, Andrew Sullivan, and Jon Stewart. Everything is upside down and backward. We just saw history with the first African American President and now we have a candidate for the racists of America. He is a nationalist that is suspicious of Islam. He is a second rate reality star when we need a inspirational leader to break the stalemate in DC.
I don't understand why this is happening, but I want to explore what is going on in America. I want to try to get my head around what is going on in this country. Where did we go wrong? It is time for a Third Continental Congress? Could we have made changes to stop this trainwreck? Was it Watergate, the Southern strategy? Talk radio? Fox News? the Festering Abortion Debate? Religious extremism in America? Citizen's United? I don't know, but we are now facing the greatest threat to the United States since the Civil War in my opinion.
