First chance to go outside this evening and Puerto Rico is going to have months if not years to recover especially the power network. I believe that 100% of the island is without power. There are individual buildings like this hotel (Ciqala) that have their own generators. I have no idea how long that will hold out. There are trees down and power lines down on nearly every street. The 24 hour 7 day a week convenience store next door had their front door blown out. The bus shelter next to us was destroyed except for the Solar Panels. Read in the
Washington Post today that the Power Company had declared bankruptcy in July which will only hamper their efforts.

There were many emergency vehicles on the streets documenting the issues facing the island over the next few weeks. There were many proud homeowners surveying the damage and trying to cut down trees. I have no idea if we will be able to get out of here by Saturday. It is really bad here. I hope that the mainland is sending plenty of help like they did in Houston and Florida. They all need a ton of help here. No tv and most of the island will be dark tonight.
The woman with the young child had her room dried and she moved back in today. The group of staff next door also had their place dried out and returned to their room this afternoon. We can only hope that the electrical workers will be able to be as responsive as the hotel workers here.
