To the Hillary Clinton:
It is time to declare that the war is over and according to the US Government abortion is legal in America. This should put an end to the culture wars and there will need to put in place a national reconciliation and reconstruction plan. Just announce that with the recent Supreme Court decision and the 40 years of abortion being in place in America this is now settled law. We do not need to discuss this issue anymore just as we do not discuss returning to the Gold Standard or should we give back the Panama Canal Zone to Panama. Abortion should no longer divide the country. The culture warriors have had 40 years to change the law and have been unable to change the courts or to enact a law or constitutional amendment to make it illegal. It is done.
Democrats have lost many fine candidates because of the abortion battles. They have had this tied around their necks for decades and it is time to move on. They need to declare a cease fire and not talk about it anymore. Just tell everyone that it is settled law in the country and refuse to engage on the issue. Democrats need to tell everyone that the Republicans have used this as a wedge issue for decades. They have worked not to eliminate abortion, but just to keep the war going and going and going for their own benefit. Democrats should declare their goal to make reduce abortions by making it unnecessary with contraceptive alternatives, expanded health care to Moms, and family assistance, but never talking about the procedure again.
This issue has dominated politics and debate for years pitting Americans against each other. We need to stop trying to kill abortion with one thousand cuts. The culture warriors lost and need to sign a peace treaty. We need to bring people together after this tough war that has divided the country. The leaders of the culture wars need to come together to agree to a plan to significantly reduce abortion in America, but never made it a dividing line for the country. For Hilary, this has to be the end. She needs to declare the debate over and move forward on other issues.
