Prove that You Believe in Unity!

"It is our job to find common ground and to work together to actually solve problems. We can disagree and have different perspectives without being disagreeable. Sadly, it seems, politics in many cases has devolved into a dehumanized ‎blood sport." Garret Graves Republican of Louisiana

"We came here to make tough decisions for the country.  We view life differently (between Republicans and Democrats). In many cases but the goal is still the same--do the right thing for the American People." Jack Bergman of Michigan said to NPR today.

President Donald Trump said, "We are strongest when we are unified and when we work together for the common good," on June 14, 2017 in a statement following the shooting during a Republican baseball practice.

PROVE IT!

I have to say before anything else is that I abhor violence.  There is no excuse for taking up arms against any human no matter the disagreement.  It is a shame that guns are so common that they often are the first response to a hardship. I heard that Ivanka Trump say that she was not aware how vicious Washington was going to be.  I have yet to see anything from her or her dad in two years that would reduce tensions in America or reach out to the other side or even show that Trump was President of the entire United States and not just the leader of a campaign of 30% of the population.

My concern is that Republicans are calling for unity and claim that they are working to solving problems, but I don't see it.  I do not think Republicans care about anything but being re-elected or they would have never proposed ending health care for 23 million Americans.  I do not see the immoral budget proposed by the Trump administration will cause so much pain in the United States.   Republicans are not trying to solve the Opioid Crisis and want to lock up more people with behavioral health issues.

There is no reason to take up arms and a sign of the untreated mental illness that it is sweeping the country.  If you have to resort to violence  This is another issue that is not being addressed by Republicans.  Why are there so many suicides, depression, applications for disability and hopelessness?  Here are some of the examples from my perspective that Republicans are not interested in unity or solving problems:
  • What benefit did America get from not approving a Supreme Court Justice, and stalling other judiciary nominees?
  • Was there care shown in withdrawing from the Paris Climate Control and attacking climate science?
  • Was the tone of the 2016 Election with chants of "Lock her Up," threats of violence, and spreading horrendous rumors about fake scandals in the best interest of the United States?
  • Is never reaching out to the other party for input on how to fix health care a sign of unity or an attempt to solve problems?
  • Was the proposed extreme budget focused on war and a massive cut to everything else a sign of working to solve problems?
  • Over the last year has there been any reaching out to the 50% of the American public who are not Republican?
  • Have their been any compromises on any issue? Immigration? Criminal Justice? Drug Policy? Prescription Drug Prices?  Funding Affordable Housing?  Disability Assistance? Food stamps? Gun Policy? Anything?
A very small segment of the population is governing from the extreme end of the political spectrum.  They are just saying words until we see some actions.
